The Luxury of a Life That Fits You

The Luxury of a Life That Fits You

Perhaps true luxury isn't having more. Perhaps it's having a life that actually feels like yours.

Hello friend,

I've been contemplating the word luxury lately.

We tend to associate it with beautiful things, a beautiful home, a beautiful holiday, a beautiful wardrobe, financial freedom, the ability to buy what we want without thinking too much about the price, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying beautiful things.

The older I get, the more I've come to think that some of the greatest luxuries have very little to do with what we own.

The luxury of waking up without immediately feeling behind.

The luxury of having enough space in your day to hear yourself think.

The luxury of choosing work that aligns and feels meaningful.

The luxury of being able to say no without spending the rest of the day explaining your decision to yourself or the person/people you've said it too.

The luxury of having people around you with whom you can be completely yourself, no judgements!

The luxury of making your home feel like a reflection of who you are rather than simply somewhere you happen to live.

The luxury of having a body you listen to instead of constantly ignoring.

The luxury of having enough quiet time to notice what you actually want, and perhaps one of the greatest luxuries of all...

A life that fits you.

I've realised that we can spend so much of our lives trying to fit ourselves into lives that were never designed for us or by us.

A certain definition of success, a certain pace, a certain career, a certain relationship, a certain way of looking, a certain expectation of what life is supposed to look like by a particular age, and sometimes we become so good at fitting into those expectations that we forget to ask whether they actually fit us.

What if success for you looks different?

What if your ideal morning isn't productive?

What if your dream life contains more spaciousness than achievement?

What if you want beautiful surroundings, meaningful work, financial abundance and plenty of time to simply enjoy being alive?

What if you don't want to spend every waking hour building something?

What if you do?

There is no universal blueprint for a beautiful life, there is only the question of whether the life you're creating feels like it belongs to you.

Recently, I've become much more interested in that question.

Does this fit the woman I'm becoming?

Does this environment support how I want to feel?

Does this relationship allow me to be myself?

Does this work leave room for the rest of my life?

Does this choice move me towards the experience I want to have?

Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it's no, sometimes it's not yet, but simply asking changes something.....

Because when we begin designing our lives around what genuinely matters to us, we stop measuring our success by someone else's definition of success.

We become less interested in keeping up, more interested in tuning in, and perhaps that is where a different kind of abundance begins.

Not in having everything, but in having a life where the things you have, the people you share it with, the spaces you create & inhabit and the way you spend your time actually feel meaningful to you.

A life that doesn't need to look impressive from the outside because it feels good from the inside. That to me is luxury.

A little reflection

Take a quiet moment and ask yourself these questions:

Does my life currently fit me?

Not the life you think you should want.

Not the life that would impress others.

Not the life you imagined ten years ago.

The life you as you are today, genuinely want to live.

What already fits beautifully?

Where have you been trying to fit yourself into something that no longer does?

Perhaps there is one small change you could make today or this week.

Clear a little space, change something in your environment, protect an hour for yourself, say yes to something you've been wanting, say no to something that no longer feels right.

Make one part of your life feel a little more like you, you don't have to redesign your entire life overnight. Sometimes creating a life that fits begins with one honest choice.

If you'd like support in creating more ease, connection and embodiment...

This is at the heart of what I love about the work I offer through Bohemian Somatics.

Creating space to reconnect with yourself, listen to what your body and inner wisdom are remembering, and explore what becomes possible when the way you live begins to feel more aligned with who you are.

You might begin with a private Soul Remembrance session, to clear any blocks and limiting beliefs, an Intuitive Session for clarity, direction and perspective, or an Activate & Remember online group community experience, to bring more intention into your everyday life.

There is no right way to begin, simply choose the doorway that feels right for you.

Thank you for being here and receiving these weekly insights, I love sharing these reflections because I don't believe conscious living needs to be complicated, sometimes it's simply noticing, questioning what we've always assumed, making a different choice, creating a little more beauty, listening a little more closely, and gradually building a life that feels more and more like our own.

I hope something in this week's reflection stays with you, and perhaps, somewhere in the middle of an ordinary day, you'll pause and ask yourself:

Does this feel like my life?

Until next time, with love,

Melissa xo

P.S. You don't need to wait for a completely different life to begin enjoying the one you're creating, make one small part of today feel more like you!

What if clarity isn't something you need to find, but something you allow yourself to notice?

I'm not sure if you saw, but last night we welcomed the August Full Moon in Pisces and I think this one arrives with a beautiful invitation for all of us. Pisces is a deeply intuitive and sensitive sign, traditionally associated with imagination, dreams, spirituality, compassion and the unseen parts of ourselves, the things we often feel before we can put them into words. So rather than thinking about the full moon as something that is here to tell us what we need to release or let go of,...

Bohemian Somatics Consciously Melissa The Quiet Work No One Sees ↓ Hello gorgeous, Something I've been thinking about lately is how quietly change often arrives for us. We tend to imagine transformation as something dramatic, a new job, a new relationship, a big announcement, or a complete reinvention. In my personal experience the deepest shifts rarely happen that way. They happen in the moments no one applauds. The decision to speak more kindly to yourself. The habit you stop returning to....

Bohemian Somatics Reflections & Rituals Many of us grow up believing that being a caring person means always being available, always listening, always fixing, always rescuing. Somewhere along the way, we begin to measure our kindness by how much of ourselves we're willing to give away, and by how much we can gain approval, acceptance, and love from others by doing the work. However, I've been reflecting myself if that's really compassion, or whether sometimes it's simply forgetting that our...
