What the Full Moon Illuminates

I'm not sure if you saw, but last night we welcomed the August Full Moon in Pisces and I think this one arrives with a beautiful invitation for all of us.

Pisces is a deeply intuitive and sensitive sign, traditionally associated with imagination, dreams, spirituality, compassion and the unseen parts of ourselves, the things we often feel before we can put them into words.

So rather than thinking about the full moon as something that is here to tell us what we need to release or let go of, I've been thinking about it as an invitation to notice.

To become a little quieter, to listen a little more closely, to pay attention to what has been quietly asking for our awareness or attention. Because sometimes we don't need another answer, another strategy, or another person telling us "what we should do next."

Sometimes we simply need enough space to see what we already know.

The things we've been feeling, the choices we've been considering, the deepest desires we've been quietly wanting, the parts of our lives that feel expansive and alive, and the parts that no longer feel quite like us.

There is something about a full moon that has always fascinated me, perhaps it's the way it changes the night around it. Everything seems a little more visible, a little brighter, and I've been thinking about how often life works in much the same way.

Sometimes clarity doesn't arrive because we've searched hard enough for it. Sometimes it arrives because we've finally become still enough to notice what has been there waiting to be noticed.

I've been thinking about this in my own life lately, how much can become clear when we stop looking for the next thing to fix and start paying attention to what is already unfolding.

A desire that keeps returning, an idea that won't leave you alone, a feeling in your body that seems to know something before your mind can explain it.

A possibility that makes something inside you feel a little more alive.

I'm beginning to trust those things more. Not every feeling needs to become an immediate decision, not every desire needs to be explained, and not every change needs to be announced while it's happening.

Some things are allowed to grow quietly., you are allowed to grow quietly. Some parts of us need time to become integrated before they become visible.

This is where I think conscious creation becomes so interesting, our inner world isn't passive. The things we repeatedly imagine, assume and identify with begin to influence the way we move through life. What we give our attention to matters, the stories we rehearse matter, the version of ourselves we continually return to matters.

Perhaps that is one of the most empowering things we can remember, we aren't simply responding to life, we are participating in the human experience we're creating through what we consistently think, feel, expect and embody.

So this full moon isn't only about looking backward at what is ending.

It can also be about becoming conscious of what you're giving your inner attention to now.

What are you imagining for yourself?

What are you expecting for yourself?

What are you making space for?

What feels possible when you allow yourself to look beyond what is immediately in front of you?

And perhaps most importantly...

Who are you choosing to be while you're creating it?

There is something beautiful about allowing ourselves to live with that question, from a place of curiosity.

A little full moon reflection

As the light of this full moon begins to soften, light a candle and take a few quiet moments for yourself.

Ask this:

What am I seeing more clearly now?

What feels good and true in my life?

What am I genuinely excited about?

What am I giving the most attention to?

And what do I want to experience more of?

You don't need to come up with a perfect answer, just let yourself be curious.

Write something down.

Make yourself a beautiful cup of tea.

Sometimes the answers we're looking for arrive when we stop demanding that they appear.

A little invitation from me

This is one of the reasons I created Bohemian Somatics, a like minded community where we can slow down, be ourselves, and reconnect.

Because sometimes having someone hold the space while you listen inwardly can help you hear what was already there.

My Intuitive Sessions offer a gentle space for reflection, intuitive insight and perspective when you're navigating a transition, sitting with a decision or simply feeling called to understand what's unfolding in your life a little more deeply.

I also offer 1:1 Somatic & Energy Healing, or online community experiences.

Each one offers a different doorway back to yourself.

I always appreciate you being here and taking the time to read this.

I love these little moments of connection I create through these reflections, I don't believe we need to have life completely figured out before we can live it more consciously.

We can be learning, changing, questioning, growing, wanting more, changing our minds, beginning again, and still be completely present for the life we're living right now.

So tonight, if you happen to look up at the moon, take a moment.

Let yourself notice what is beautiful, notice what feels different, notice what you're grateful for, and notice what is quietly calling you forward. and you can simply begin to live in alignment with it.

With love,

Melissa xo

P.S. Perhaps the most beautiful thing the full moon can remind us is that we don't need to manufacture the light. Because we are the light.

The Luxury of a Life That Fits You Perhaps true luxury isn't having more. Perhaps it's having a life that actually feels like yours. Hello friend, I've been contemplating the word luxury lately. We tend to associate it with beautiful things, a beautiful home, a beautiful holiday, a beautiful wardrobe, financial freedom, the ability to buy what we want without thinking too much about the price, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying beautiful things. The older I get, the more I've...

Bohemian Somatics Consciously Melissa The Quiet Work No One Sees ↓ Hello gorgeous, Something I've been thinking about lately is how quietly change often arrives for us. We tend to imagine transformation as something dramatic, a new job, a new relationship, a big announcement, or a complete reinvention. In my personal experience the deepest shifts rarely happen that way. They happen in the moments no one applauds. The decision to speak more kindly to yourself. The habit you stop returning to....

Bohemian Somatics Reflections & Rituals Many of us grow up believing that being a caring person means always being available, always listening, always fixing, always rescuing. Somewhere along the way, we begin to measure our kindness by how much of ourselves we're willing to give away, and by how much we can gain approval, acceptance, and love from others by doing the work. However, I've been reflecting myself if that's really compassion, or whether sometimes it's simply forgetting that our...
